Today has been filled with packing and last minute errands, getting ready for our 3-week California trip starting Wednesday. On the agenda, returning library books, getting new ear buds for the plane, and stopping for some froyo (a must). We’re going to take the umbrella stroller with us, so I want to use our big one as much as possible before we go, and I think both my babies enjoy their new not-quite-so-new-anymore ride.
I have to say, as much as I loveloveLOVE wearing my baby, it’s quite nice getting to stroll around the neighborhood and give my shoulders a break. I can throw so much stuff underneath in the basket if we want to go to the park, or shop for groceries, or check out a bunch of books from the library, and I can bring the pup in tow to boot (although please note, her little free-riding self here is not normal, she usually walks her tiny tush!). And although in all those ways it makes life easier, it’s also a bit inconvenient at the same time. As everything in life, always pros and cons. For one, this beast doesn’t fit in a lot of little boutique shops, my local organic grocery store, and a few cute cafes I like stopping in. And because it weighs a TON, keeping it downstairs in the foyer of our rowhouse folded against the side means that to unfold it, load it up, strap him in, and get out the door is a pretty big juggling act. But for those leisurely strolls to the park, or any other long walk around my neighborhood, this is the guy I grab.
